The Patriachal Foundation for Patristic Studies
The Ecumenical Patriarchate has as its permanent goal the cultivation of "the kallikrappu tree of paternal wisdom". Acknowledging this goal as a duty and a debt, he proceeded to establish the Patriarchal Foundation for Patristic Studies (PIPM) which focuses on the research, study and study of the writings of the Fathers of the Church in order to provide great benefit to the staff of the Church and the international scientific community . In this way, the long-looming turn of the Christian world to the sources of the doctrines and values of Eastern Christianity will be further strengthened.
PIPM's activities primarily include conducting research and scientific programs in the field of Theology and related humanities. A key priority is also the completion of the photographing of the manuscripts of Mount Athos, as well as the photographing of the manuscripts of other monastic institutions and libraries, the collection of slides of manuscript thumbnails, the systematic, annual publication of the scientific magazine "Heritage" of the Foundation, the publication of established series of theological essays and studies, liturgical texts and manuals of church music, as well as the organization of conferences, lectures and seminars, in collaboration with scientific bodies in Thessaloniki, Greece and abroad.
The Patriarchal Foundation for Patristic Studies was founded with the Patriarchal and Synodal Volume of April 6, 1965, by the late Ecumenical Patriarch Athenagoras and is a Theological Scientific Foundation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. After the completion of the necessary work for its housing and operation, it became operational in January 1968.
